Sandstone is a sedimentary rock that consists mainly of sand grains. Clays, limestones, gravels, shales, feldspars and other rock fragments are also deposited when sand grains are sedimented. Weathering changes the originally yellow-brown sandstone to grey. The presence of some oxides and other minerals colours the sandstone brownish red.
